Papermaking

I began making paper around 2000 from a kit that Carol gave to me for Christmas, several years before.  I had no mentor for this, just learned by practice and mistakes.  After we moved to Crestone, I began making paper in earnest.  I started with a table of sawhorses and plywood in our front driveway.  With that paper, I started producing gift cards composed of the paper, macro-photographs of local flowers, and dried and pressed flowers.  I sold these cards on consignment in the Crestone Artisans Gallery, added prints of a similar composition and varying sizes. I continue to experiment with different fibers, local additives, sizing agents, and moving to larger screen sizes.  Just this summer, I have added the Gothic RMBL Visitors Center as a sales outlet (near Crested Butte, the Wildflower Capital of Colorado).
